Probability: Foundations & Applications

The Summer School is meant to benefit senior post-graduate students, junior research
fellows and young teachers of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science. The
course will cover fundamentals of discrete and continuous probability models, law
of large numbers, weak convergence and limit theorems, conditional probability,
Markov Chains and Martingales, large deviations and entropy. It will also cover
some applications to number theory, graph theory, computer science and other related
fields.

Applications are invited from interested senior M. Sc. students, junior research scholars
and young teachers from university departments and colleges for participation in
the summer school. The application should be supported by a letter of recommendation
(preferably by e-mail) in the case of students and research scholars.
The application should include the following details:
1. Name
2. Age
3. Gender
4. Designation and the institute to which the candidate is attached
5. For students, perfomance in the last examinations taken. For research
scholars, the area of their research interests. For teachers, whether they
passed tests like NET, SET etc.
6. Any other relevant academic achievements
7. Recommender’s name and designation
8. Address for correspondence (e-mail and postal)
9. Whether they need accommodation or not
